The UK’s first adhesive-free cross-laminated timber building
Pig Patch House is a custom-built family home in Stow Bedon, near Attleborough, and the first adhesive-free cross-laminated timber building in the UK. It is built with NUR-HOLZ, a solid timber system developed in Germany’s Black Forest and imported by Bright Forest.
The elements are made only from untreated natural wood and joined with wooden dowels rather than glue or metal, so the structure is one material throughout and can be fully recycled. Prefabrication kept the build time short, and the solid timber gives good thermal and sound insulation. Only two NUR-HOLZ buildings have been built in the UK so far, and our team assembled both.
