Heritage & Restoration
Traditional materials, modern engineering, and skilled craftsmanship
From medieval churches and Grade I listed country houses to coastal structures on protected Sites of Special Scientific Interest, we have spent more than a decade working on buildings that matter, for clients investing in preservation for the future.
Our starting point is always to understand what's already there, retain original fabric wherever possible, repair rather than replace, and make sure new work sits comfortably alongside the old. Our team brings the traditional skills this demands such as lime mortars, leadwork, carpentry, and brick and flint laying.

What we do
Restoration and fabric repair
Structural and fabric repairs to listed buildings of all grades and ages: masonry, leadwork, slate and timber roofing, chimneys, re-pointing, rainwater goods and joinery. We work with the existing materials and character of each building, using the right techniques and sourcing appropriate matches.

Churches and ecclesiastical buildings
We carry out a substantial amount of work for the Norfolk Churches Trust and individual church clients. These projects require an understanding of archaeological requirements, specialist material sourcing and close coordination with heritage officers. We have that understanding.

Sensitive contemporary additions
Where a historic building needs to be extended or altered, we work closely with architects and conservation officers to make sure new work respects what is already there. The building leads; we follow its logic.

SSSI and sensitive sites
We are well-practised in complex logistics and sensitive environments. Some of our most demanding work has been at Blakeney Point, a Site of Special Scientific Interest, where we have completed two separate projects on the National Trust's lookout tower and lifeboat house. Approximately 24 tonnes of scaffold had to be transported four kilometres to site without contravening SSSI rules. The programme was built around nesting bird season, seal breeding season, weather and tides.
Our Work
Who we work for
We have worked with and have ongoing relationships with Blickling Hall and Estate, Felbrigg Hall and Estate, Oxborough Hall and Estate, Peckover House and Blakeney Lifeboat House for the National Trust, as well as for English Heritage, the Norfolk Churches Trust, Holkham Estate, Purcell Architects, Spire Properties and Anmer Hall.
Of course we also work for private clients with residential projects that require our specialist skill set for their historic homes.
Years of heritage experience
In 2021 we acquired NF Coverdale, a specialist restoration contractor with nearly 40 years of heritage experience and established contracts with the National Trust and a range of other historic property owners. Their workforce joined ours, their knowledge stayed.
Proud to meet the highest standards
Working with the National Trust requires Constructionline registration and an annual audit covering both our financial standing and our safety record. Working with English Heritage requires us to evidence our experience and demonstrate our commitment to ongoing staff training. Both reflect the standards we already hold ourselves to.
